Cookie policy

What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small text file that is saved to your computer or other device when you visit a website. The text file contains information that is used to improve the experience of visitors to that particular website. Cookies are stored in the web browser’s file directory, on the hard drive of the visitor’s end device. When the visitor returns to the same website, their browser reads the cookie and passes the information back to the website that originally placed it. Cookies pose no risk to the visitor’s computer.

Which cookies does Carstop use, and for what purposes?

1) Session cookies
These are stored only temporarily, for the duration of the visit to www.carstop.ee. Session cookies are kept for as long as the visitor keeps the browser open after entering the website. Session cookies remind the website that the visitor made a choice on a previous page, so that the same information does not have to be entered again.

2) Persistent cookies
These are stored for a fixed period of time. You can delete them from your device yourself if you wish. The purpose of persistent cookies is:

• browser identification – cookies that make it possible to recognise the browser and to use the website more securely;
• user statistics and analysis – cookies that provide information about how and how often the Carstop website is used, what the user groups are and which search tools are used.

3) Third-party cookies
Carstop uses third-party cookies on its website, for example Google cookies, in order to target advertising. Third-party advertisements use cookies that are stored on the end device in order to assess the effectiveness of the advertising and to personalise the content of the advertisements shown to the visitor.

How can a user change and choose the use of cookies?
The cookies used by Carstop do not contain the personal data of website visitors and cannot be used to identify a visitor. If a visitor wishes to restrict the storage of cookies on their end device, or to delete stored cookies, this can be done in the web browser settings.

Over time, Carstop may update and adjust cookies in order to improve the quality of the service.

Where can I find more information?
Carstop employees are responsible for the processing of cookie use on Carstop’s online resources. If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact us by e-mail at: info@carstop.ee.
