Van repair and maintenance

For commercial vehicles and vans, every unexpected day off the road is expensive for the business. Because commercial vehicles carry significantly heavier loads every day and cover longer distances than ordinary passenger cars, regular professional servicing is critical to keeping them reliable. At Carstop workshops we offer a full service for vans and light trucks — from engine oil changes through to complex chassis and engine repairs. Our experienced mechanics and specialist high-capacity equipment make sure your business does not grind to a halt and your vehicles get back on the road quickly and safely.

Carstop workshops include the following among their maintenance services

Regular periodic servicing and oil changes for commercial vehicles and vans
Repair and inspection of heavy-duty chassis, suspension and braking systems
Engine and electronics diagnostics and repair of more complex assemblies

How to recognise when you should bring your car in for a check

The vehicle sags excessively under load, or loud knocking comes from the chassis
Vans often carry heavy loads, which puts the suspension and axles under enormous stress. If you notice the van swaying unusually on the road, leaning too far in corners, or knocking sounds coming from the axle, the springs, shock absorbers or bushings are critically worn and need replacing quickly.
Engine power has dropped, fuel consumption has risen, or warning lights are on
Constant short trips around town or long motorway stretches take their toll on a van's engine. Loss of power and a sharp rise in fuel consumption often point to a blocked fuel system, DPF particulate filter problems or sensor faults, which need immediate diagnostics before a bigger failure develops.

Do van service intervals differ from those of ordinary passenger cars?
Yes, van engines often need more frequent servicing. Although the manufacturer's permitted interval may look long on paper, for vehicles working constantly in demanding conditions (city driving, frequent stops, heavy loads) we recommend changing the oil and filters more often — for example every 10,000–15,000 km.
Can large vans be repaired at every Carstop workshop?
Van repair requires specially high bays and lifts with a greater lifting capacity. Although most of our workshops are fully equipped for this, we recommend sending an enquiry through the website before visiting, so we can book a bay that exactly suits the dimensions of your van.
