Vehicle technical check

A regular technical inspection is the best way to keep your vehicle reliable, prevent unexpected breakdowns and ensure safe motoring. At Carstop workshops we offer a professional full inspection covering all of the car’s vital systems — from the chassis and brakes through to the electrical and engine components. Spotting wear on consumable parts early prevents the chain reaction that leads to extremely expensive repair bills, and ensures your car always meets road safety standards. Bring your car in for a check before a longer trip, at the change of season, or before the official roadworthiness test.

Carstop workshops include the following among their maintenance services

Brake system check (pads, discs, hoses and brake fluid test)
Suspension and steering system check (shock absorbers, springs, bushings and joints)
Visual check of the engine bay, fluid levels and leaks
Testing the battery's condition, capacity and the charging system
Checking the operation of exterior lighting, indicators and wipers
Checking tyre pressures, tread depth and uneven wear

How to recognise when you should bring your car in for a check

Unusual noises while driving, or the car's road behaviour has changed
Unusual noises while driving, or the car's road behaviour has changed
A change of season, a longer road trip or the official roadworthiness test is approaching
We recommend having a technical check carried out preventively at least twice a year (in spring, and in autumn before winter). A pre-check before a long motorway journey or the official test saves you from unexpected problems on the road and helps you pass the test first time.

What kind of overview of my vehicle do I receive after the technical check?
After the check, Carstop mechanics prepare a thorough and transparent report on the condition of your car. It separately sets out critical faults requiring immediate attention (such as dangerously worn brakes) and predicted future costs (such as consumable parts that will last until the next service), together with a precise repair quotation.
Will the car be repaired straight away during the technical check?
No — the check involves only diagnostics and assessment of the systems. If the mechanics find defects or parts that need replacing, you are informed immediately. Repair work and the fitting of new spare parts only begin once you have approved the quotation and the list of work presented to you.
